Karen Brown

I discovered Pilates in 1990, at Trevor Blount’s studio in London, after falling from a horse and injuring my back. I was travelling a lot which aggravated my already stressed back and poor posture. The results were remarkable, and my flexibility and posture improved. I came back to Pilates to help my body recover from the birth of my twins, and discovered Body Control Pilates. I was so inspired by the method I wanted to teach it to others
It is a remarkably effective method, and is often recommended by osteopaths to help improve muscle recruitment, achieve ‘core stability’ and improve day to day ‘functional’ movement.
I believe that the struggles I have had with my own body have made me a better, more compassionate teacher and I can think of nothing better than to pass on my enthusiasm to others!!
I am a fully qualified and insured Level 3 Matwork Body Control Pilates Teacher. I also have a Level 3 award in Designing Exercise programmes for Older Adults. This means I have the knowledge to accommodate those with common medical ‘age’ related conditions, such as arthritis, osteoporosis, hip and knee replacements.
I live in Stroud, with my husband Vincent, and the twins.

Classes

Body Control Pilates

Mixed ability class, regardless of fitness level.
Pilates is most effective when attended regularly, and ideally undertaken in 6 week blocks. This enables progression through the exercises, and for clients to set and meet their own goals. A Client Enrolment form will be given to fill in, so that I am aware of any medical conditions that may affect exercise.

Cost £54 for a block of 6 classes. £10 for drop in sessions. Please contact me first as spaces are limited.

A 1:1 session is recommended to cover the fundamentals of Body Control Pilates.
