Cerian Smith

Cerian has always loved movement, from surfing to belly dancing, and first discovered yoga at university in 2001. However, after having her daughter, life became busy, and she found little time for anything beyond walking the dog. When she rediscovered yoga in 2013, her practice was inconsistent, but she knew it was helping her cope with life.
Each time she stepped on the mat and set a sankalpa (positive intention), it became a space just for her - a challenge to embrace. Every time she stepped off, she felt more at peace than an hour before. Though she didn’t always prioritise her practice, it remained a grounding force in her life.
In 2018, after experiencing severe depression, Cerian realised she needed a fundamental change - no more putting self-care at the bottom of the list. Yoga had to become as essential to her daily life as preparing the evening meal. She left her job as a classroom teacher and trained with the Bristol School of Yoga, completing her 200-hour Ashtanga and Yin Yoga teacher training.
From her first days teaching in the classroom, Cerian was passionate about making languages accessible to all - and she brings that same approach to yoga. She wants to remove the fear that "yoga’s not for me because I’m not bendy enough, not strong enough, not thin enough."
Every body is a yoga body.
Every practice is valid. Every day on the mat is different.
