Introduction to Iyengar Yoga with Emma Taylor

During this 2 hour workshop we will explore the method of Iyengar Yoga developed by B.K.S Iyengar during is 75 years of teaching. Using physical alignment as a starting point, Iyengar Yoga encourages the spread of intelligence throughout the body, the growth of self-awareness, and an experience of the asanas as a form of “meditation in action.” Students will be introduced to the safe and systematic principles of alignment, basic sequencing and use of props (bolster, bricks, strap, blanket) and discover how these practical tools can maintain bodily health and vitality, mental clarity, emotional serenity, and spiritual well-being. Specifically designed for newcomers to yoga or more experienced practitioners who wish to consolidate the basics.
