Karen Brown

Karen discovered Pilates in 1990, at Trevor Blount’s studio in London, after falling from a horse and injuring her back. Karen was travelling a lot which aggravated her already stressed back and poor posture. The results were remarkable, and her flexibility and posture improved. She came back to Pilates to help her body recover from the birth of her twins and discovered Body Control Pilates. She was so inspired by the method she wanted to teach it to others.
It is a remarkably effective method, helping to improve muscle recruitment, achieve core stability and improve day to day functional movement.

Karen believes that the struggles she had with her own body have made her a better, more compassionate teacher and can think of nothing better than to pass on her enthusiasm to others!

Karen has been a fully qualified and insured Level 3 Matwork Body Control Pilates Teacher since 2014. She has a Level 3 award in Designing Exercise programmes for Older Adults. She is also qualified and insured to teach clients with osteoporosis (Bone Health), and those with Hypermobility related conditions.
Karen can accommodate those with common medical age-related conditions, such as arthritis, hip, and knee replacements. Her class is mixed ability and suitable for all, from beginners to intermediate.

Classes

Body Control Pilates

Mixed ability class, regardless of fitness level.
Pilates is most effective when attended regularly, and ideally undertaken in 6 week blocks. This enables progression through the exercises, and for clients to set and meet their own goals. A Client Enrolment form will be given to fill in, so that I am aware of any medical conditions that may affect exercise.

Cost £54 for a block of 6 classes. £10 for drop in sessions. Please contact me first as spaces are limited.

A 1:1 session is recommended to cover the fundamentals of Body Control Pilates.
