Emma is a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher. She founded and ran the Essence of Yoga Iyengar Studio in Sydney, Australia for 10 years before moving with her family to Stroud in 2017.
Her love for yoga began in early 2000 during her travels through India, where she spent time living and studying at a yoga ashram. Two years later she completed a Hatha Yoga teacher training course and later furthered her studies by undertaking pregnancy and postnatal yoga teacher training.
In 2006 she met Senior Iyengar Teacher Glenn Ceresoli and his wife, Iyengar Yoga Teacher Margaret Ceresoli. This meeting was transformational for her practice, teaching and personal life. She began intensive work with Glenn, completing his level 1 and 2 International Iyengar Teacher Training and qualifying as a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher. Emma continues to study with Glenn and Margaret Ceresoli.
Emma is also a qualified Thai Yoga Massage Therapist and has studied a course in Ayurvedic Lifestyle to complement and enrich her yoga practice and teaching. She is currently dividing her time between teaching, studying for her Iyengar Intermediate Junior 2 qualification and looking after her two young children, Rumi and Lila.
Emma is dedicated to the path of yoga and the journey back to the true self and spiritual essence that binds us all. Her classes give students the opportunity to explore the essence of yoga in a practical, inspiring and supportive environment.
Move into Mondays
A dynamic 45 min Iyengar Yoga morning session to prepare the body and mind for the week ahead. There will be a key focus on standing poses.
Standing poses “refresh the body and mind by removing tension, aches and pains. They stimulate digestion and regulate the kidneys. They improve circulation and breathing. The back, hips, knees, neck and shoulders all gain strength and mobility through practice.” ~ The Iyengar Way, Silva, Shyam and Mira Mehta

This class is suitable for those new to yoga, new to Iyengar Yoga or anyone wishing to revisit fundamental yoga principles.
Investment: £8 per session or 5 class pass £35 (the 5 class pass does not need to be used over 5 consecutive weeks. It is flexible)

Beginner / General Iyengar Yoga
A welcoming and inclusive class. For newcomers to yoga; students who wish to refresh and consolidate their understanding of the Iyengar method and students from other styles of yoga who would like to experience the foundations of this approach.
During each session we stretch, strengthen and tone, improve posture and help relieve common aches and pains. Students are encouraged to focus on postural alignment, not only for the alignment of one body part with another, but also as a means of restoring balance and harmony to the breath, mind, emotions and senses.
The class is challenging but taught in a safe, slow, and methodical way. We take time to adapt the poses using props such as bricks, bolsters, chairs where necessary, and students learn to manage their particular needs (i.e imbalances, injuries, special conditions). Each week we build on the previous week’s work, Beginners are guided and supported and more experienced students are given variations of certain asanas to develop their practice.
This evening class concludes with several restorative and recuperative asanas to leave students feeling calm, centred and recharged.
