Camilla Aslett

I was introduced to the Yoga for the Special Child programme, through my second son, who has Down’s syndrome. Lucy Clarke, worked with him on a one to one basis, she is an amazing teacher and Gabriel has a lovely connection with her. The impact of the yoga on him was so wonderful, so positive. When Lucy asked me to assist her in her group classes for children with developmental and physical challenges in 2010 I was absolutely thrilled.
I completed the Yoga for the Special Child Basic One in March of 2011 and then had the honour of completing the Basic Two with Sonia Sumar in October 2012. I continue to work alongside Lucy, Ben, Karen, Claudia and Eliza under our Community Interest Company, The Maya Project, bringing yoga to children, teens and adults with additional needs across Gloucestershire
In a different life I worked as a Project Manager for an International Conference and Media company based in London, for 10 years. Happily we now live in Gloucestershire, my husband and I have 4 children, so yoga helps to calm the chaos…

The Maya Project CIC offer Yoga to people of all ages and abilities
As well as Yoga for the Special Child one-to-one sessions, our services include; outreach work in schools and group classes for children and adults with additional needs. We believe that yoga provides a pathway to bring about positive and transformational change and we nurture that journey with every person and family we work with.
